ACUPUNCTURE
& OTHER SERVICES

Acupuncture is a 4000 year old physical therapy that involves the insertion of very thin, hairlike needles into specific points of the body. Research shows that these points, or “neural nodes”, create measurable biological changes both at the site of the needle insertion and elsewhere in the body. Sensory neurons carry the responses from the site of insertion to the central nervous system- affecting blood flow, body regulatory processes (such as the release of endorphins, neurotransmitters, and hormones), as well as organ, glandular, and systemic function.

ACUPUNCTURE

  • Promotes relaxation: shifts the nervous system into parasympathetic rest and relaxation mode by acutely decreasing cortisol and increasing GABA (Xanax works by increasing GABA)

  • Reduces pain: releases trigger points to loosen tight muscles and restore proper blood flow and oxygenation, interrupts chronic pain signaling and acts as a natural analgesic

  • Improves and directs blood flow via vasodilation

  • Activates the hypothalamus, pituitary, and other endocrine glands to balance hormone levels

  • Regulates nitric oxide

  • Beneficially alters production of neurotransmitters

  • Improves immune system functioning by enhancing immune cytokines, T cells, and interleukins

Common issues seen in my clinic that Acupuncture addresses:

  • Pain: including tennis elbow, tweaked neck or back, knee pain, arthritis, tight shoulders, limited range of motion, sciatica, surgical rehab, fibromyalgia

  • Mental/emotional: anxiety, insomnia, irritability, depression

  • Immune: allergies, frequent colds or infections

  • Athletic optimization: strengthening joints and soft tissue, aiding recovery

  • Fertility: pre-conception planning, unexplained and diagnosed infertility, IVF support, male factor

  • Digestive: colitis, IBS, constipation

  • Headache: migraine, sinus, and tension headaches

  • Skin: urticaria, psoriasis, cold sores, hair loss

  • Respiratory: asthma, allergies, sinus issues

  • Menstrual issues: PMS, menstrual cramps, spotting or heavy bleeding, endometriosis, PCOS, irregular, absent, or long cycles

  • Pregnancy & postpartum: nausea, back & hip pain, edema, labor induction and support, postpartum recovery, milk supply issues

  • Autoimmune

  • General health & well-being: A person doesn’t need to be sick or in pain to benefit from acupuncture. My patients appreciate how good acupuncture makes them feel- more calm, yet also focused, with better sleep, energy, and resilience. A problem is typically what brings them into my office yet, even after that issue is alleviated, many choose to continue to receive treatment. Regular monthly acupuncture tune-up treatments help keep all systems clicking along.

NAET

(Nabudripad’s Allergy Elimination Techniques)

NAET is a natural and effective way to eliminate allergies. I have found it to be very successful in identifying and treating individual food and environmental allergies. It combines techniques from Kinesiology, Chiropractic, and Chinese Medicine to clear allergic reactions through a “reprogramming” of the nervous system and brain. I found NAET to be so helpful in resolving my own allergies that I quickly signed up to study and become certified in NAET upon receiving my Acupuncture licensing.

cupping

Cupping is a traditional therapy that uses heated cups to create suction on the skin. The suction from the cup releases tension and adhesions in the fascia. It increases blood flow and circulation to the area which can help with pain, inflammation, and healing.

Cosmetic/ Facial Acupuncture

Especially fine needles are inserted to relax tight facial muscles and activate muscles that are weak to counter the tendency of the skin to sag and drop. The needles stimulate the production of elastin and collagen and increase cell turnover. With multiple sessions of this protocol I witness increased resiliency in the skin- it becomes more supple and soft, less frail. Lines become less deep and noticeable and less sagging. People look like themselves but with more glow, vitality, and softness- healthier.

Most won’t bruise but it is a possibility. If you are wanting to look your best for an event, I suggest beginning with multiple sessions ahead of the event, timing the last about a week beforehand.
